Assignment 2

Analysis

The three analyses i chose were public/private, circulation and materiality.

In the drawing above I wanted to fold out the circulation of the stairway. Through my analysis I found Loos did not design the house to showcase rather for the people who lived there. If you look through the path you can see you travel across different levels of public and private areas.

In the above image I have captured the public walkway through the Villa Muller and the richness of the public access area. You are able to see the fine thought and intricate detail he has thought about in relation to  the more private rooms which he has left to be quite simple.

In the above image I have tried to get an understanding of how he has reduced the building into building blocks with geometrical shape and value. When we enlarge the public space (shown in the bottom right corner of the above drawing) you are able to see how Loos has used bigger rooms geometrically speaking for the more public areas.

Proposition

For my proposition I wanted to take the idea of different heights and how it can be played with and altered in many ways. I also wanted to take into account how the varying ceiling heights correlate with use of the rooms.
